2021 Design-a-Sock Contest Winners
We received thousands of entries from around the world, and you voted to narrow down the top 30 entries to select the final 3! Without further ado, meet the winners of the 2021 Design-a-Sock Contest:
1st Place: Bananarwhal
Artist: Andrés Izarra, Panama City, Panama (note: Andrés is currently in the states so his submission came from Colorado, but he is a resident of Panama City!)
Bio: I’m a graphic designer / ecologist. I love pizza and I fell in love with Sock It to Me in 2019 when I saw a friend wearing space cheese socks (SITM note: another DASC submission!). I have participated in the contest every year since that moment.
2nd Place: Wizard Lizard
Artist: Franco Giovanni Barco, Panama City, Panama
Bio: Hi! My name is Franco, and I’m an artist and a digital Illustrator. I’m 26 year old and I love dogs. I have been on Sock It to Me’s contest for a few years and this time i created something weird and funny and I’m glad you liked it.
3rd Place: Fruity Bloom
Artist: Mariana Beatriz Wu, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil
Bio: I am a Brazilian designer and illustrator born and raised in Rio de Janeiro. I’ve been attracted to art and everything creativity related since I was a child and I make sure to put that passion in everything I do.
I graduated in Product Design at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and also studied Fashion Design as a major at another college. Since graduating, I’ve been working as an illustrator and as a surface and pattern designer – and I must confess that seeing somebody wearing an outfit with your patterns is one of the best feelings ever!
