Detroit native Phoebe O’Meara moved to Portland after attaining a degree in social work from Saint Louis University, and she’s been working for Rose Haven to help create a healing space for women, children, and gender nonconforming people in the community. As the manager of the Rose Haven Advocacy Program, Phoebe helps to provide emotional support, resource information, and financial assistance to individuals seeking shelter and guidance while coping with the after-effects of abuse, home loss, and other health and life challenges.

You can’t spell party without “art,” and this year’s Design-A-Sock Contest is uniting the two! The theme is “Join the Party!” and it’s calling on you to celebrate with your self-expression and creativity, one design at a time.
Mariana Beatriz Wu is an illustrator who uses vibrant colors and eye-catching shapes in her work, and it was her design, “Fruity Bloom,” that was selected among the top 30 as one of our three winners for last year’s Design-a-Sock Contest. Born and raised in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Mariana has always been committed to passionate self-expression that is vivid and fearless; she truly represents how to “Be Bold. Be You.”
