Congrats to our “Greatest Valentine!”

Congratulations to Angie Haglund, a loving mother, loyal friend, and this year’s “Greatest Valentine!”  Angie has overcome great obstacles in the recent past and is still always looking to help other people in any way that she can.  According to her friend, Melissa, she is “a lifesaver and a joy, and just makes my journey down life’s path more fun and interesting!”

Melissa recalled one story that summed up the type of person Angie is: “I went to college in Winona, MN. It was about two hours from where she lived. I had been having a tough time just before my graduation, and then later that night, after I’d cried my eyes out to her, I heard a knock on my door. I wasn’t expecting company, and most of my friends had bailed on me.  And there she stood; she’d driven all the way, right after she hung up the phone with me because she was worried. She said she’d stay the night if I wanted her to, or she could go back (of course I wanted her to stay!) and she took  me out, she cheered me up, took me shopping and made me smile. She did all this just to help me! That is just one story that illustrates her sweet nature. She has always thought of other people first – her children before everyone – and I think she deserves to be thought of first and pampered with comfy socks and wonderful chocolate and a little recognition.”

Well, we think so too, Melissa!  We hope some delicious chocolates and cozy socks will bring a smile to her face, just like the many times she’s brought one to yours!

We were truly overwhelmed with the outpouring of love that we received through all of the contest submissions, so we have decided to send a little back!  We have also chosen 3 runners-up for our Valentine’s contest — and each of these (below) will receive Valentine Sock It to Me’s for their special someone as well!

Runners-up include:

We’d like to extend a congratulations to Tiarna Cunial’s mum, who has been by her daughter’s side throughout her long and difficult journey with Asperger’s.  Tiarna writes, “My mum believed in me and gave me the help I needed  to make the best of myself.  Currently, I’m studying Medical Biotechnology at University with a 6.5 GPA on a 7 scale, and I wouldn’t have gotten to where I am without my mum. Without her, I would have likely not been able to attend uni.”  We think your mum deserves a little special something for her selflessness as well!

Another congrats to Lorraine Herold, who was nominated by her sister Nicci!  Lorraine has managed to do it all – raise 3 kids, earn her Master’s degree in education, and run a head-start program in Clackamas – despite constant obstacles.  Nicci said, “She has been my hero for as long as I can remember and one of the most giving and loving people I have ever met- I’d say that even if she wasn’t my sister. 🙂 She’s overcome more obstacles and challenges and come out even more amazing each time.”

And a final congratulations to Whitney Thaxton’s wonderful husband, Stephen, who is always giving and thinking of others.  When describing Stephen, she said, “He focuses on making me feel special on the other 364 days of the year, and he has the biggest heart of anyone I’ve ever met – which is a huge reason I married him.”  Whitney is a huge fan of Sock It to Me, and recently turned her husband on to spicing up his sock drawer as well!

Thanks to EVERYONE for sharing their amazing and very inspiring stories with us!!!!  We loved reading about how wonderful all of our fans are, and hearing their loved ones gush over them!

Happy Valentines
