An Open Love Letter
The last 2 months of the year always feel like a whirlwind. In November, there’s so much preparation for a Thanksgiving weekend most of your family will enjoy. And then in a blink of an eye, it’s over and we’re counting down to the winter holidays. For those, like us, who work in retail, there is an additional layer of frenzy that comes from supporting the holiday shopping season. And much like last year, a lot of extra effort and steps are required to make it successful and safe.
As I listen to broadcast after broadcast about the new challenges the retail industry is facing in this second year of the pandemic – rising costs, transportation bottlenecks, supply chain issues and how that’s leading to product shortages – I worry that it overshadows what the holiday season is really about: the people we care for.
It’s for this reason that I used this month’s blog post to honor and celebrate the team members who make Sock It to Me so special. Since joining Sock It to Me, I have been impressed with the care, ownership, and sense of pride our team members have for the work we do together. It’s evident in every graphic we create, the quality of our production, the care with which we pack every order, and how we strive to exceed the expectations of those we are lucky to interact with every day. Each holiday season, it amazes me how our team approaches the long hours needed to prepare countless orders with a positive attitude and desire to continue making the ordinary extraordinary. Doing what we do takes more than stamina and patience. It takes heart and a genuine love for what Sock It to Me stands for and delivers.
I am truly grateful to be part of a team that works so hard and still revels in all things mystical, magical, and generally awesome. That camaraderie of common interest and commitment to creating an extraordinary experience for our customers and each other is such a rare gift. I am thankful for it every day.
My small, but mighty team inspires me with their resilience, creativity, and open hearts. I am grateful for the opportunity to hustle alongside you when things are busy, problem-solve with you when we face new challenges and celebrate our accomplishments together. Thank you all for being one of the best parts of the holiday season for me.
With respect and gratitude,
