Come Join the Party!

The best thing about a Sock It to Me party is everyone’s invited! That’s why we gathered up all our new knee highs, crew socks, STRETCH-IT™s, and kids socks to one party to start the year out on the right foot. Read on for some behind the scenes secrets: what inspires us and our new styles.

Dance All Night

Our new sock styles were inspired by bright colors and brighter vibes. Sure the days are short, but they are getting longer every day! While we wait, we bring the brightness with us. For these new sock styles we thought: neon lights, balloons (both mylar and regular), and glitter EVERYTHING. Anything that reflects light is an inspiration because we have to use what little light we have. If you’ve got something, shine it!

Send a positive message across the dance floor and beyond in Hands Across Calves knee highs and STRETCH-IT Pride & Fabulous knee high socks. These are bold purple socks with an even bolder statement. And Pugasus, part pug, part pegasus—there’s a pup on a crew sock who knows how to flaunt what he’s got. But the party’s not over until everyone’s clinking glasses in the classy Socktail Hour men’s crew socks and striking poses in our men’s Say Cheese.

Play All Night

New fantasy and gaming socks for women, men, and kids featuring pandas, dragons, dolphins, spaceships, and a cinderella story.Nostalgia’s the game and we’re great at it. Growing up is for adults, so leave that to them and the fun and games to us. Our designs are inspired by what we do in real life, gathering around tables to eat and play!

Winter is the perfect time to share a meal and strategize. We love losing ourselves in boardgames and video games. It’s a fun way to escape, but also dial in our real life problem solving skills. Join us for a game or two in men’s crews Beware of Dragons and Intergalactic to hone your inside geek! (and your fantasy can become a reality too).

Music box ballerina socks for kids paired with ballerina shoes. We love to dress up and play pretend. Living your fantasy life during the winter can help keep things bright, and a little disguise can go a long way. But we’re not hiding in Happily Ever After, we’re living our own fairy tale lives! We’re all the the hero of our stories in these knee highs! Your little one can have big dreams in Tiny Dancer—straight from the music box onto the stage. These kids ballerina socks are available in youth crew and junior crew. Everyone can play dress up in Dancing Dolphin socks, inspired in part by our old sticker collections and part by our dream vacations. These Hawaiian sunsets on a sock are available in women’s crew, youth crew, junior crew, and toddler crew.

Care All Night

Bearly sprinkled bear socks for women, kids, and toddler.

When it’s cold and dark outside, we gather together for warmth and cheer. Sometimes we grab some matching socks too, so if we’re not near, we can stare at our feet, think of those we love, and smile. Bearly Sprinkled (inspired by a child’s drawing) is the perfect fit. With styles in women’s crew, youth and junior crew, and toddler knee high the whole family can wear them together or apart. Darker days can easily turn to darker moods, but bright styles and bright smiles can help when you surround yourself with those you love, even if it’s just a totem.

And whatever you do, stay you, stay positive, stay weird!

August is such a busy time for Sock It to Me…next week we’re off to Vegas for the tradeshow to beat all tradeshows — MAGIC! It’s always good to see some of our retailers from all over the world and make new friends.

We said it and we meant it! Not only are we here to talk about what’s going on with us, but we’re also here to showcase all the Sock-o-philes out there!

So here we have it, straight outta Portland, Oregon our second Sock-o-phile – who was also a Design-a-Sock contest winner! In fact, a couple of sock monkeys made from her winning Calfinated sock design, were featured on our blog post about Pedalpalooza! But we digress….

Peggy’s Winning Sock

1) Why do you love socks? What’s not to love? Socks are awesome…. They are functional and decorative!  I think socks tell a lot about a person.

2) How did you start your collection? The start of my collection wasn’t a conscious effort. When I was a pre-teen, my Aunt Nancy gave me a couple pairs of really cool socks for Christmas, I wore them all the time! Surprisingly, I still have one of those pairs in my collection. I like to call them my “Michael Jackson” socks. When I started working as a teenager, I would buy cool socks randomly, until one day I had more than would fit in one drawer. The collection kept on growing and still does.

3) How many socks do you own? WOW! I knew I had a lot, but to answer this question accurately, I actually counted them all… 253 pairs as of 07/18/11.

4) You have so many socks. How do you keep them organized? I am a Capricorn and very organized. I used to sort my socks by color and keep each color in a separate drawer. That got to be too time and space consuming so now they are sorted by length and if they are solid color, they have their own drawer. Yes! I am a bit obsessive!

5) What’s your favorite pair? Are you serious? That’s like asking me what is my favorite flavor ice cream. Impossible to answer. I LOVE them ALL equally! I do tend to wear the SITM Fancy Pants black & silver stripe a lot, I also love rockin’ the SITM Portland Stripe and on a warmer day, a pair of Solmate ankle socks make my feet happy.

 Flying Socks

6) Do you pick the outfit then pick socks, or do you pick your socks and then your outfit?
This really depends on my mood and the day. Sometimes, I know what socks I want to wear the night before. Then in the morning I try to pick the outfit that will show them off best. Other days I wing it… I am really happy I live in Portland, Oregon where it is always sock weather! Capris are my favorite pants, they are versatile for our climate and show off my socks nicely!

7) Has anyone ever pulled a “sock” prank on you? All my friends know how I am crazy with the socks. I’m a volunteer board member of Art on Alberta, a local nonprofit. At one of our meetings, I was looking around at everyone’s feet and noticed every board member had on really cool socks. Usually it’s one or two…but that night it was EVERYONE! I wanted to say something, but didn’t want to interrupt the flow of the meeting until, finally I broke down and yelled out, “I can’t believe how awesome everyone’s socks are!!!” The room erupted in laughter… I was PUNKED! The President of the board sent an email around, excluding me, telling everyone to wear cool socks to see how long it would take me to say something. They were surprised I was able to control myself for about an hour.

If you want to be featured as a Sock-o-phile, just e-mail just at: press {at} sock it to me {dot} com! We can’t wait to hear from you!!

As some of you may know, and for those of you that don’t… Portland (our beloved city) is a land of DIY bicyclists. Since 2002, the city has hosted a bike event that has morphed into an all out Pedalpalooza! It’s a 2+ week long bikey fun extravaganza! Almost all the events are run by volunteers, and most of them are completely FREE! There are yoga rides, solar panel rides, tutu rides, and the ever popular World Naked Bike ride.

This year there were over 250 events, and here is a peek at 2 of our faves: At the Epic Pizza Ride about 30 – 40 riders meet up at a park, but only the leader knows where the ride is going. You follow the leader around town to 5 surprise pizza shops that have prepared sample-size pizza pies for you to munch on! Biking and pizza? Yes, please! Another one of our faves is the Bowie vs Prince Ride. For this mystery ride, everyone dresses up as either Bowie or Prince. On the way to your final destination, you make frequent stops to dance. The bike ride ends at a huge dance party in a cemetery with amazing tunes and a disco ball! Biking and 80’s Glam Rockers? We want more! Pedalpalooza literally has something for every biker out there…

For the second year in a row, Sock It To Me was in on the action! We LOVE to ride bikes, and we were counting down the days before the Hott Sock 2011 Prime Time ride. A fantastic crew of well heeled fashion and bike enthusiasts met up with the fine crew of Sock Dreams and then pedaled on over to the new, centrally located Sock It To Me headquarters for a rockin good time! About 100 new and old members of our sock “family” gathered for games, snacks, and (of course) good beer! Sounds fun, and oh, it was!

Some party goers participated in a relay race where teams had to do goofy things really fast. They had to crab walk, stack boxes, catch marshmallows, hopscotch, and 2 team members had to put on 25 individual socks. This was all in the name of the mighty coveted and always popular prize: FREE SOCKS! Check out our video coverage of relay race:

If the relay race wasn’t for you, there was always the artsy option. Our party people used their imaginations to dream up these AMAZING sock monsters!

The party lasted well into the night – ok, until well after the keg was tapped out! Needless to say, we had lots of fun celebrating our city and one of its favorite pastimes! If you’re in Portland for Pedalpalooza next year, you gotta come by!!!

Happy (almost) 4th of July!
